Wright's view of the novel

Blog – Do you agree or disagree with Wright’s view of the novel?

I don't really know if I agree or not. I mean I liked the book but Wright does bring up some good points. In a way i guess it is a bit condescending and perhaps its a bit stereo typical of a white view of African Americans from back in that time period, when there was still a lot of racism. I guess i don't really know what influenced Hurston's style of the novel. I don't really know what type of crowed she was trying to appeal to either. But i do agree with Wright's opinion that she was symplifying the characters which i can see how that could b taken in a less than pleasent way. I myself would not really want my friends or me to be viewed as 'simple' or inferior so i can see how that point could be argued.
