"They sat on the boarding house porch and saw the sun plunge into the same crack in the earth from which the night emerged"

To me i think this may be forshadowing problems in their relationship. I mean having the sun go into the same place where the night emerges to me kind of symbolizes the death of there happines and the rise of their problems. I mean she didn't really know Joe for that long before she went and ran off with him, and idk just looking ahead the book says that joe had a big voice and liked to be incharge, that could end up causing problems for Janie because he may start trying to control her and Janie at least right now is rather free spirited.
