Blog – Chapter 18 contains the line the title comes from – “their eyes were watching God.” Explain what the line means in the context it appears.
In this context god is sort of like the huricane in that it seems all powerful and its taking away all of what they kno and leaving them in the dark. They're sitting together in the darkness straining to c beyond what they kno (darkness) in order to c what it is thats destroying everything around them. So in that way the hurricane is kind of like god because they wern't expecting this hurricane so its almost unnatural.
