Explain Wright’s response to his mother’s paralysis.
Wright’s first response to his mother’s paralysis is shock, which is natural, but he didn’t at first grasp the concept that it was his mother supporting him and his brother and that without her they would have nothing. He then had to work to try and support them. This shows Wright becoming more mature and responsible even though he is still only a child. After her relapse however, he developed a more pessimistic view towards the world.
