Blog – explain the last paragraph of chapter 14, explain the terror
The terror richard is refering to is the cultural problem in the south. There is an obvious predjudice and discrimination toward the blacks from the whites, but thats not what bothers Richard, what bothers him is that no one does anything about it. Many of the African american population continue to lower themselves just to make a little extra. Example Shorty letting the white man kick him for a quarter, and Harrison who wanted to fight for $5. Rather than keeping their pride they play into how the whites think they should be and thats what disturbes Richard because he feels with that kind of behavior/attitude, they will never achieve equality.
