Title

I don’t know so much about having a philosophy of reading but I do have my set of preferences. My preferred genre is fantasy and science fiction. I like my books to be epic tales of adventures in strange lands with dragons and other various mythical creatures. I also really like books I can relate to, I find that if I like the characters and I can put myself there in the story then I generally will enjoy the book.
I don’t usually enjoy school reading that much because I find it difficult to get into what I’m reading. I’m not saying the schoolbooks are bad; no they usually are very good books. Just often times they’re not my kind of books, which then makes it difficult to read them since they don’t interest me.
As for expanding my choices, I guess I sometimes go to the library and look around for covers that stand out to me, or titles that sound interesting. It may not sound like the most effective way to expand your choices but it works pretty well and I’ve found some very interesting books that way.
I would say that expanding my choices has been worth it. I used to think that I wouldn’t like the Harry Potter books, until I read the first and after that I read them all and I have enjoyed each one. It was definitely worth it because before that I didn’t like reading and it was the Harry Potter series that really opened me up to fantasy and science fiction books.
